Lets Hope Miley Cyrus Can Outlive This Event, Says Foam Finger Inventor

Miley Cyrus has amassed a cult of haters following her trippy performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards that hosted oversized bears, a super tight skin suit and a foam finger. Now, the inventor credited for making the foam “No. 1 hand” in 1971 is coming for the former Disney starlet for pointing said finger in all the wrong directions.

“For people that like that kind of entertainment, I’m sure that it met their needs,” says Steve Chmelar, according to Fox Sports, about the show Miley put on when she rubbed the foam finger all over her and Robin Thicke’s private parts during their rendition of “Blurred Lines.”

Chmelar adds, “I would say that it certainly misrepresented its intent to encourage team support. She took an honorable icon that is seen in sporting venues everywhere and degraded it. Fortunately, the foam finger has been around long enough that it will survive this incident. As for Miley Cyrus, let’s hope she can outlive this event and also survive.”
